At the beginning, finding yourself stuck inside can be kind of fun, but then over an extended period of time, it’s easy to feel lazy, unmotivated, bored and disconnected from the outside. Consider this an opportunity to try all the creative and delightful things you have been putting off because you have been too busy to accomplish. To help get you started, here are some ideas of fun and exciting things to do in your house when you find yourself getting bored.
1.) Keep a Schedule: This will help keep you on track of everything and everyone if you are working from home or schooling your kids.
2.) Do Online Workouts: Many companies around WNY are providing online workouts for you to follow along with. Through Instagram, YouTube, apps and live videos can stay fit and motivated throughout the day while boosting you mood!
3.) Organize your Food: Sorting your food by expiration date will help make sure nothing gets wasted. And it’s a good excuse to swipe down your refridge- when is the last time you did that?
4.) Organize Everything Else: Go through your clothes! Figure out what you haven’t wore in awhile and put it aside to donate. Organize your closets, junk drawer, shelves. It’s the perfect time to purge!
5.) Read a Book: Make a cup of tea, sit on the couch and enjoy a good read.
6.) Cook a New Recipe you have been Wanting to Try: Sometimes we don’t have the time to try something new and end up making the same four meals on rotation. Take out that recipe book and pick a dish you never tried before.
7.) Rearrange the Furniture: Usually in a room there are a couple ways to set up your furniture, put the couch where the TV stand is the the TV stand where the couch is. Changing up a room can make a big difference!
8.) Play a Game: Clue anyone?
Whether it be board game or a game of cards, this can occupy your time for awhile (Especially if it is a game of Monopoly).
9.) Catch up on that TV Series everyone keeps talking About: All your friends keep talking about the series, Game of Thrones, but you are just sitting there not giving anything to the conversation because you have never seen it. Now is the time to sit down and binge watch.
10.) Paint a Room: Have you notice some chipped in your paint or are sick of looking at that pale blue wall? Put a bright color or new modern one & enjoy painting. You will be more proud when it is finishing knowing you did it!
11.) Do something Creative: Try a painting, drawing, puzzle or anything that involves your hands. You might discover a hidden talent!
12.) Meditate: Grab your yoga mat and enjoy the quiet and peaceful area around you. Close your eyes, breathe and focus on the future!
13.) FaceTime with your Friends and Family: Keep your social distancing and schedule face to face times with your loved ones. A good video chat is the next best thing!
14.) Send a Handwritten Letter: Haven’t talked to that friend or relative from a different state in awhile? Grab a pen and write them a note, ask how they are doing and catch them up on your life.
15.) Take Out that Old Instrument: Sit down at that piano bench that is in the corner of our living room, grab the guitar from your closet and relearn how to play. You might be rushy at first but you will get the hang of it after a little bit.
16.) Take a Walk/Run: Enjoy the fresh air and the start of nicer weather to come. Appreciate a walk around your favorite park or go for a run to clear you mind!
17.) Support Local Businesses: Now is the time to show our community the love they need. While it be getting take out from a local restaurants, shopping online at your favorite local boutique or getting your grocery from the local grocery store. These gestures will go along way!
18.) Spa Day Inside: Take a long bubble bath, put on a face mask, paint your nails, drink water, exhale.
19.) Have a Dance Party: The newest obsession that everyone is talking about is TikTok, try some new moves there or just put on your favorite song and dance around the living room. Volume up to 50!
20.) EAT! “Am I eating because I am bored?”- Grinch
The answer is most likely, yes, but enjoy the chips and dips, eat the cookies and just eat because who is watching?
21.) Lastly, Take a Nap: Because, why not?
