Taste of Diversity Festival
At the heart of Buffalo’s vibrant West Side Market District, you’ll find a broad array of incredible multicultural food and crafts in one of the most diverse parts of downtown Buffalo. The TASTE OF DIVERSITY FESTIVAL takes place on August 20, from 11 AM to 7 PM – perfect for a lunch and dinner date. Enjoy live music and the company of your closest loved ones on Grant Street (located just between Lafayette and Auburn Avenues).
Friday Night Bash at the Ballpark
Considered Buffalo’s favorite local tradition by many, the Friday Night Bash!® series has been taking place every year since the opening of Sahlen Field in 1988. The 2022 schedule includes 13 planned “bashes,” complete with an award-winning fireworks display and happy hours courtesy of Resurgence Brewing who will be providing an exceptional selection of craft beer and great food specials.

Family Fun Day in Larkin Square
The all-new Family Fun Day brings all ages together for games and activities, kickball, music, and special guests on August 13 at MLK Park. Spend all day enjoying the festivities, but all the more, enjoying the company of the ones you love most.

You’ll learn about the region’s involvement in the Underground Railroad while honoring those who have fought for freedom and justice, all while paying your respects to the peace and stillness of the beautiful natural setting.
Buffalo by Bike History Tour
First-time visitors and long-time residents alike will learn something new on The History Ride – aiming to “bring the city’s past to life” with the history group’s passion for “unforgettable stories, songs, humor, and local insight.” What better way to become familiar with our great town’s historical significance than by taking a bike ride while learning to see it anew?
Behind the Scenes Curator Tour
You’ll need to plan ahead to be one of the ten people invited into the private, curator-led tour of the USS Little Rock. On August 13, the two-hour tour explores portions of the ship not available to the public during any other time. Director of Museum Collections Shane Stephenson will give a fascinating lecture on the hard-won historical lessons of the Erie County Naval and Military Park – don’t forget to bring a flashlight!
Best of Buffalo Double Decker Tour
These daily tours take you through Buffalo’s history on an authentic British double-decker bus, then lead you by foot through several of the most famous ships at the Buffalo Erie County Naval and Military Park. The Arts Are Covered

Exhibit: Creative Journeys
Non-profit Stitch Buffalo passionately teaches the art of stitching and embroidery to refugee women to provide an outlet for their textile traditions. With its large portion of refugee women, Buffalo is the perfect place to host Creative Journeys – a rich and tactile art experience demonstrating the talents of women from all over Eurasia, South America, Africa, and beyond.
Exhibit: To Rescue the Color: Salvaged Renderings of the Rainbow City
This small but impressive exhibit preserves the painstakingly accurate, colored renderings of the 1901 Pan-American Exposition by artist C.Y. Turner, who acted as the director of color for the Pan-Am. His exceptional work still conveys the expression of man’s triumph over the elements to this day. It can be seen between Wednesday and Saturday every week at the Buffalo History Museum’s state court.
Creators on the Boardwalk
Vendors and farmers bring their finest crops and wares to the open-air farmer’s market at Buffalo Waterfront’s Canalside. The Boardwalk at Canalside also offers cruises, caricature drawings, street performances, and bike rentals – or just a place to relax and unwind amongst the great people in our community. You’ll find the freshest local produce imaginable while supporting small businesses in your community.
Food vendors will be out in force and don’t forget to bring canned food items to the Feedmore WNY donation tent. Creators on the Boardwalk is free for everyone and takes place on August 28.
Seneca Art Exhibit Opens
Also, this month the Buffalo History Museum presents an assortment of awe-inspiring sculptures, textile pieces, beadworks, and indigenous relics of the Seneca people. The exhibit’s main artist and her team intend to establish a resurgence of indigenous power and presence through their dedication to putting genuine historical artifacts of the Seneca culture on display to the people in Buffalo.
