Most of us are probably feeling pretty tired of this social distancing. We’re ready to get back to normal, back to a routine, back to spending time with friends, and back to frequenting our favorite restaurants.
However, most of us are also committed to doing our part to flatten the curve and protect the vulnerable in our community, which means waiting to enjoy a dinner out on the town for a few more weeks, until restrictions are lifted and we’re better able to ensure our own, and others’, safety.
In the meantime, there are still plenty of restaurants in Buffalo dishing up their signature meals and tasty beverages, restaurants that need your support in order to be able to emerge from this unprecedented experience. While you can’t dine in to show your community spirit, you can pick up food curbside or get it via a delivery service, thus enjoying your favorite meals and helping to support some of the great restaurants across our community at the same time.
We’ve pulled together a list of a few of our favorite spots around Buffalo. Take a look, then let us know which other options you’d recommend.
SPoT Coffee on Delaware
SPoT Coffee has closed many of its locations around town, in an effort to fully support social distancing. The restaurant does have a few locations still open, with one of them being our favorite – the SPoT Coffee restaurant at 1 Delaware.
This location continues to provide curbside-only service at this location and is taking additional precautions to protect patrons.
For example, they’re requesting that customers call ahead to place their order and that they complete prepayment over the phone. To-go orders will be located on a to-go table that allows patrons and staff to practice social distancing during the order pickup.
While SPoT’s menu is packed with tasty food items, most people are probably leaning toward comfort foods at this time, so a popular order option might be the SPoT pesto panini or the smoked pastrami. And, of course, you can’t go wrong with any of their tasty baked goods for dessert.
Eat Rite Foods
With everyone staying in place, that means more meals to prepare at home and more opportunities to pick junk food or tasty snacks over healthy options.
Eat Rite Foods is helping to combat that situation by making their meal kits available to make customers’ lives easier. The restaurant has made some changes to its offerings, such as pausing the availability of grab and go meals and keeping the physical location open fewer days.
However, they’re also offering free delivery within a certain range of their 1 Delaware location to make it easier for customers to enjoy a healthy meal even during a stressful time.
Customers have the opportunity to review the meal planning options for the week, then select the choices that most appeal to them. Menu options typically include healthy breakfasts and a variety of dinner protein/vegetable combinations to choose from; some of the highlights include honey garlic roasted chicken and a family-style steak and potato dinner.
Resurgence Brewing Company on Chicago Street
Resurgence Brewing Company is a local favorite and one that’s committed to supporting social distancing efforts while also serving customers.
The brewery, which actually produced a small batch of Social Distancing IPA, is offering both beer and meals to go on a twice-weekly basis.
Both food and beer offerings vary; the restaurant has offered a variety of meals, including brunch packages, individual orders, and family-style meals.
Interested diners can visit the brewery’s social media channels for menu updates; they’ve generally posted the week’s menu on the Resurgence Brewing Company Facebook page well in advance of the order deadline.
The Grove
The Grove’s freshly pressed juices are bright and colorful enough to cheer up even the dullest day of social distancing. And, the antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and nutrients they pack are another positive during a time when we’re all trying to safeguard our immune systems.
The Grove is located in the Ellicott Square Building and they are open M-F 9 am-3:30 pm with a full menu!
You can customize a juice box with the flavor combination that works for you, whether you’re seeking a specific set of immune-boosting properties in your beverages, or whether you just want to taste the rainbow, literally. Their juices range from Red (beet, carrot, strawberry, orange, lemon, turmeric and ginger) to Purple (blueberries, red cabbage, apple, and cucumber) with every hue imaginable in between.
If you’re tired of cooking every meal at home; if you’re missing the sight, sounds, and flavors of your favorite local hangouts; or if you’re just looking for ways to support local businesses and the Buffalo economy, these restaurants, along with many more in the Buffalo area, would no doubt be extremely grateful for your patronage. Let us know what you’re planning to try during the next few days/weeks.
