Ground floor window installation is underway at 960 Busti Avenue (corner of Niagara Street). Back in December, BRO posted on the building’s upper windows going in. Now the rest of the building is coming around, adding to the increased vibrancy of a street that has got some big projects coming to pass this year. “We see several exciting projects popping up on Niagara Street,” said Barbara Rowe of Vision Niagara (photo credit). “Kudos to the city for having the vision to redesign the corridor – surely this is inviting for investors and will be a great benefit for our residents.”

Barbara and her husband Peter Sowiski were two of the first believers of Niagara Street, long before anyone even knew that there would one day be enormous infrastructure improvements coming to the corridor. The couple owns Abaca Press, located at the corner of Lafayette Avenue. Ever since they first relocated their business to the corner, they have been active in helping to jumpstart the street, which is commendable considering the scale of the undertaking, and the freeway style nature of the roadway.

Things are looking up for Niagara Street these days, and now developers are jumping onboard to take advantage of the rising tide. Additionally, a range of businesses are also calling Niagara Street home, from longstanding Santasiero’s to relative newbie Sugar City, more people are spending more time on the street, which bodes well for additional investments down the line.

960 Busti Avenue is expected to be complete in spring 2016.
